Positive, neutral and negative canthal tilt
Positive canthal tilt means the outer eye corner appears higher than the inner corner; negative tilt means it appears lower. A value near zero describes a nearly level line. These are directions, not grades. Left and right eyes may differ, and a small change in camera height can move a photo estimate near a category boundary.
How the canthal tilt calculator works
The calculator uses eye-corner landmarks after putting horizontal and vertical distances into the same image scale. It estimates a face axis to reduce in-plane head roll, then calculates an angle for each eye. Pitch and yaw still change the 2D projection, so look straight ahead at an eye-level camera. The output is a photographic estimate, not a clinical exam.
Canthal tilt and hunter eyes
